Another wonderful week has passed us by in Class 1 and again we have been very busy! We have had a lovely week learning all about 'Real Superheroes'. The children have talked about and expanded on their existing knowledge of 'People who help us'.

On Tuesday we looked at the story of 'Cops and Robbers' by Allan Alberg. The children were challenged to think of some descriptive words for two of the main characters, a Police Officer and character called Grandma Swagg. The children thought of some absolutely fabulous words words including magnificent, brave, strong, sneaky, crafty and naughty. Our Reception children then used the words to create some sentences and Nursery drew a picture of character from the story and used more exciting words to describe, them to an adult.

The children also found out all about the different roles of other people in the community, that help us. They used the information they found out to make a class book, which is on display in our classroom.

In Maths this week Reception have been building on their subtraction skills. Mrs Parkes was so proud of the super work they did for her on Thursday. Our Nursery children continued to build on their 2d shape skills. They described the different basic, shapes to an adult and then went on a 2d shape hunt to see how many different shapes we have in our indoor and outdoor environments.

In Phonics this week our Reception children have been reading and writing CVCC words such as 'jump' and 'golf'. Our Nursery children have continued to learn about the letter sound 'a'.

Well done Class 1 for another fabulous week.

Have a lovely weekend,

The EYFS Team
