Right Help, Right Time
With effect from 1st July 2026, Staffordshire Safeguarding Children Partnership has replaced the existing Thresholds document with the newly developed Right Help, Right Time Document.
This guidance sets out how children and families in Staffordshire will be supported, protected, and safeguarded in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children (2026). It fulfils the statutory requirement for a clear and accessible local ‘threshold’ document, outlining when and how help, support, or protection should be provided.
All children and young people in Staffordshire have the right to be safe, healthy, and able to achieve their full potential. This Right Help, Right Time document promotes early support and timely intervention, ensuring families receive the right support at the earliest opportunity, while also defining specialist and statutory responses where risks increase.
The guidance is for use by all practitioners and agencies working with children and families. It supports early identification of need, provides clarity on levels of risk and intervention, and promotes a shared, strengths‑based, and collaborative approach to improving outcomes for children and young people across Staffordshire.
