It has truly been a week full of enrichment with most of the class representing the school in sport events against other schools. On Tuesday, a group of 9 went to Shobnall Leisure Complex to play football against schools in the Dove Valley Sporting Group. Notably, everyone showed great sportspersonship and not only cheered their own players on but also those from other teams. Later in the week, 17 pupils got the chance to represent the school playing dodgeball. Both teams managed to see victory and one managed to reach the semi-final. Not only were great throwing, dodging and catching skills on show but the teamwork and togetherness was heart warming.

During lessons, Year 6 managed to reach the end of the ratio unit and Year 5 began consolidating their written methods for division. In English, we made great progress towards our own narratives relating The Explorer by focusing on developing an interesting character through leaving clues for readers to make inferences from.

In Religious Education we read the Biblical story “The Wise and Foolish Builders.” Then observed a model version of the events. This helped us better understand the meaning behind the story which we found to be: Jesus was clear that his words give foundations for living — and without them, people will get swept away.

Breathtaking gymnastic routines were created to demonstrate individual, counter and supportive balances leaned throughout the unit. These were performed in front of their peers to the beat of floor routine music which helped develop rhythm and flow to the routines.
