We've had such a brilliant first week back at school, and it feels so good to be back together again! The sun has been shining down on us, making playtime in the yard extra fun. It's been lovely to see everyone laughing and playing with their friends again – we've certainly missed all that happy chatter!
Inside the classroom, we've been super busy learning lots of exciting new things. In our English lessons, we've dived into the colourful world of Tinga Tinga Tales. These stories are so vibrant and full of amazing animals! We've been using our detective skills to make predictions about what might happen next in the stories. We've also been busy bees using fantastic adjectives to describe the characters and the wonderful settings, and learning how to join our ideas together using conjunctions like 'and', 'but', and 'because'. Our writing is becoming so descriptive!
Over in Maths, we've been focusing on Money. It's been really interesting learning to identify all the different coins and notes we use. We've even had a go at counting amounts in pounds and pence. Some of us are becoming real money experts already!
Tuesday afternoon was a real treat! We were so excited to invite our parents into school to see some of the fun activities we do in our Maths and Phonics lessons. It was lovely to have them in our classrooms, and we hope they enjoyed seeing all our hard work. Thank you to everyone who was able to come!
Then, on Thursday afternoon, we had a very special visitor! Dr Allen came into school to talk to us about what it was like to run the London Marathon. It sounded like an amazing but very challenging experience! We were all so inspired by his talk.
After hearing about the real marathon, we had our very own mini marathon out on the school field! The whole school came together, and even though it was a very hot afternoon, everyone tried their best to run their laps. It was fantastic to see everyone encouraging each other. We definitely earned our delicious ice pops at the end – they were a very welcome treat!
Phew! What a busy and exciting first week back. We're so happy to be back in school and can't wait to see what next week brings! Keep up the amazing work everyone!
