What a wonderfully busy and exciting week we've had here in Class 2! The countdown to Christmas is truly on, and your children have been working incredibly hard and engaging in some fantastic learning. We had a very special arrival this week to help us kick off December! Our very own Christmas elf, Bushy Evergreen, paid us a visit! Bushy Evergreen delivered a lovely Advent Calendar for the class. Even better, he left a note explaining that if all the children are kind, helpful, and work hard throughout the month, they will be rewarded with a different Christmas story to read and enjoy for every day of December! It’s certainly given everyone extra motivation to be on their best behaviour! The biggest focus this week has, of course, been our final rehearsals for the Nativity next week! The children are doing so well—they know their lines, they are singing beautifully, and the whole class is coming together as a wonderful team. A huge highlight came on Wednesday when we finally got to practice in our costumes! There was so much excitement in the air, and seeing them all dressed up really brought the performance to life. They looked absolutely fantastic! We can't wait for you all to see the show next week; it’s going to be brilliant. Please keep practicing those lines and songs at home over the weekend, if you can. We took a very special, long-distance trip today! We were absolutely thrilled to join lots of other Primary schools across the country on a live video feed directly to Antarctica! The children sat in awe as they got to hear all about what the scientists are doing in the icy landscape. We learned about the amazing research they conduct and the incredible wildlife they encounter. The best part was that we even got to ask the scientists our own questions! It was a brilliant, unique opportunity that really brought the subject of exploration and science to life. It certainly sparked a lot of discussion in the classroom. In English this week, we embarked on a journey with the classic tale of Pinocchio! We started by focusing on the structure of the story, having a go at ordering the events correctly. This helped us understand the beginning, middle, and end. Once we had the sequence clear, the children worked brilliantly in their small groups to orally retell the story. This group work is a vital step as it helps them develop their vocabulary and fluency, which will be essential when they retell the story in their own writing next week. They came up with some very descriptive language!

A big well done to all of the children for their hard work and enthusiasm this week. Have a great weekend.
