What an amazing day it has been. To generate excitement and intrigue for our upcoming local history topic (The Civil War), we visited Boscobel House in Shropshire. The day involved touring the house and gardens led by Mrs Pachl and Mr Frame. In the afternoon, we looked at historical sources to help put together a dramatisation of the great escape by King Charles II who used the location as a safe retreat during 1651. The incredible performances highlighted how much information was retained by our children who seemed to have a brilliant time. A special thank you to all those who made the day possible, especially those who volunteered at Boscobel who had tremendous knowledge and were dressed in periodic clothing!
