What an incredibkle day exploring the forestry area at The Howard Primary School. Class 4 flourished in showing off their creativity in all the active tasks set for them throughout the day. Firstly, to familiarise themselves with the forestry area, the groups explored all the different colours seen in nature and collected samples to represent the variety seen. Then, they created their own nature-isnpired art by using leaves of different colours as seen by the famous artist Andy Goldsworthy. Later on, the children created their own weaving patterns incorporating sticks from the forest into their designs and used these to decorate a tree. Linked to habitats, Class 4 then create their own shelters for creatures of their choosing and created a story for how it came to live there. After lunch, the class enjoyed an activity relating to our Second World War topic which involved decoding messages written in Morse code. Everyone seemed to absolutley love the adventerous day out and were very thankful that the weather was kind.
