Good Morning Class 1,
Here are your activities for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This week we will be focusing on Asia and we will look at how China celebrates Chinese New Year. Click on the links below to see what books we will be using.
Don’t forget Friday is Fancy Dress Friday - you can come to school and our online session in fancy dress. We can’t wait to see who you come as!
We have also scheduled a baking session on Friday. There are some simple recipe ideas in the resources or you can bake a family favourite of your own choice.

Reception Phonics This week we will be learning the ur sound. Click the link below. See if you can say the sounds correctly and do the actions with the lady. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRoFpvC0yn0 Now play the clip again without any sound. Can you say the sounds? Did you remember all the sounds? Can you do the actions? Complete the ur crossword. Thursday- Watch the black cat ur song below. Using the ur activity sheet in the resources watch the song again and tick of the ur words you can hear. Complete the second activity writing ur words. Friday- Today we would like you to either make your own High Frequency Word flashcards or print off the Monster Phonics flashcards in the resources. Ask an adult to hide the cards and around the house. You then need to find the cards and read them. Record all the cards you find on the recording sheet. Have fun!

Wednesday- Literacy 9.45am This morning we will be discussing the different celebrations chinese people carry out to celebrate Chinese New Year. Home challenge 1- Reception children we would like you to think of describing words for various objects associated with Chinese New Year. Using the describing word lists in the resources see if you can write lots of describing words for the pictures.
Nursery we would like you to create a firework picture. Can you then describe the fireworks to an adult. See if you can write the initial sounds for the words you use.
12.30-1pm- French Online Home challenge 2- We looked at Chinese lanterns this morning in our online session. We would like you to make your own lantern this afternoon. In the resources there are some instructions to make a paper lantern or you could make your own design. Here are some ideas;

Thursday- Maths 9.45am Today we will be looking at all the different ways we can make 8. Reception children will be writing the corresponding addition number sentences. Home challenge 1- Reception children using the ladybird templates we want your ladybird to have 8 spots altogether. Can you find different ways of making the number 8? Under each ladybird write the correct number sentence 4+4=8, 3+5=8 etc. Nursery we would like you to practise your counting skills by completing the caterpillar fingerprint counting activity. If you prefer not to use paint you can always draw.
Optional for Nursery and Reception- Practise your number formation using the number formation sheets in the resources. Home challenge 2-
The Great Wall of China is the longest wall in the world- it is three times longer than Britain! Can you find out any other information about The Great Wall of China? Using construction items like lego, cardboard boxes etc, what is the longest wall you can build? Can you measure how long your wall is? What did you use to build it? What would you do to improve your wall? 2.15pm Catch up & story time. |
Friday- Fancy Dress Friday! 9.45am Today is the last day of this half term we are celebrating by coming in fancy dress! Dress up as your favourite character and tell us why you have chosen that character and what you like about them. We can’t wait to see who you come as! Home challenge 1- We try to bake in school a couple of times each half term. It’s great for the children’s maths skills, physical development, language development and listening skills. Today we would like you to bake some biscuits, cupcakes or savoury snacks at home. We have put some recipe ideas in the resources for you but if you have a favourite recipe at home then feel free to bake that. You could then have a tea party with your toys or family! It would be lovely if you could send us some photographs- Have fun! |

Daily reading (10 mins) or sharing some stories together.

Practising Phonics sounds (10 mins) adult to write a sound down, can you tell them the sound? Can you give them a word containing that sound?
