Good Morning Class 1,

 We hope you had a lovely half term and are ready for some fun learning.

 Here are your activities for Monday and Tuesday. This half term our topic is  All Creatures Great and Small! This week we will explore the ocean and the animals that live under the sea.

Monday-  Can you make your own flashcards using the words; 

tail, trail, train, rain, sail, snail, paid, rail, email- remember to use colour coding!

 

Now have a go at the miming game using the flashcards that you have made.

Take it in turns to pick a card- don’t let anyone see the word! Mime the action or noun for your partner to guess. If they guess correctly they get the card. The person with the most cards at the end is the winner. 

 

Complete the ai crossword.

 

Tuesday-  This week we are learning the ai sound. Click the link below to watch Teddy Bear ai. Can you spot all the ai words? Can you write a list of the ai words in the song?

Monday- Literacy

9.45am Today we will look at the whale from the story ‘The Snail And The Whale’ by Julia Donaldson. We will think of words to describe the whale and then use our describing words/ adjectives to write some sentences about the whale.

Reception/ Nursery-

Look at the book and/ or  the animation for The Snail and the Whale. Can you think of words to describe the snail? Write these on the sheet provided. Nursery an adult could scribe your words for you.

 

 

Reception- Using the words on your sheet can you write some sentences in your home learning book to describe the snail?  Read back your sentences to check they make sense.

 

Optional activity

 

Imagine you are the Snail in the story and you could choose a place to visit with the Whale. Where would you go? Draw a picture on the writing frame provided of where you would go next. Draw and write about four different things the snail sees on her new travels.

When you have looked at the Henri Matisse information we would like you to create your own Matisse inspired snail. Here are some ideas;

Tuesday- Maths 3D shape

9.45am This morning we will be looking at 3D Shapes. We will learn the names of 3D shapes and see what shapes we can find around us. We will also recap how to record the number of shapes we find using a tally chart.

 

Home challenge 1-  Reception; we would like you to go on a 3D shape hunt around the house. What shapes can you find? Can you name the 3D shapes? Can you record using the tally chart?

Nursery- We would like you to use the colour recording form. When you find your shapes you colour the corresponding shape on your form. 

 

Optional activity; Use the animal 3d nets in the resources to make some 3D animal shapes. What shape is each animal? Can you find other shapes in your home that are the same as the animals?

 

Home challenge 2- Understanding the World / DT/ Art

Can you write one fact about Whales that you have learnt. We would then like you to make a whale. You could paint a picture, collage or use some resources from around your house to make a 3D model. Be as creative as you like and have fun. We can’t wait to see them at our next online meet!

  • Daily reading (10 mins) or sharing some stories together.

  • Practising Phonics sounds (10 mins) adult to write a sound down, can you tell them the sound? Can you give them a word containing that sound?

  • Complete any activities from your home learning pack.
