We have been very excited this week because the Christmas tree has gone up in the classroom. In English, we have started a new unit using the book How to Catch a Santa. We have looked at letter writing and have written letters to Father Christmas that we are going to go and post next week. We have also had a go at making chocolate rice crispy cakes and are currently learning how to write a good set of instructions. In Phonics, Year 1 have completed an assessment of the graphemes that they have learnt so far and learnt the new graphemes oe and the suffixes er and est. Year 2 have been learning the grapheme 'ar' pronounced 'or' and the 's' grapheme pronounced 'zsh'. In Maths, Year 1 have been learning about tens and ones and finding one more or one less of a number, whilst Year 2 have continued their unit on money. They have learnt how to make the same amount in different ways, find the difference between amounts of money and find change. They have worked really hard. A big ‘well done’ to our Star of the Week and winner of the 5X reader prize.
