Spring Term 1 - Week 1

Welcome back Class 3 and Happy New Year! I know that 2022 is going to be a great year full of fantastic learning. 

It may have been a short week back to school but it has certainly been a busy week! Firstly, Miss Hylton is so impressed with how well the children have settled back into their learning. In English, we have started a new unit based on the book ‘Monster Slayer’ which links to our History topic where we are learning about the Anglo-Saxons. We have made predictions about the book and used great expanded noun phrases to describe the setting in chapter one. In Maths, we have been learning how to multiply 2 digit and 1-digit numbers using written methods such as the short column method. We have found it useful to use place value counters and base ten equipment. In Sience, we have started learning about the human skeleton. In groups, we had a go at drawing where the bones are in the human body before our first lesson to show what we already know. There were some interesting drawings! We learnt that the human body has over 200 bones! A great first week back and thank you Class 3 for being super stars.
