Spring term 1 Week 6

In English, we have finished off our information writing and started to look at poetry. We have recited the poem, acted the poem out, looked at rhyme and onomatopoeia and had a go at planning our own poems in the style of The Magic Wand. Next week, we will be writing our own poems and performing them. In Art, we have been looking at shadows and shading. We followed a tutorial that showed us how to create shadows on a picture and shade them in. We produced some really good art work. In Science, we became leaf detectives. We got out the magnifying glasses and investigated the different parts of leaves and looked at the similarities and differences between them. In Maths, Year 2 have been learning about fractions. They have been finding 1/4, 1/2 and 1/3 of different shapes and quantities.  Year 1 have finished their work on place value to 50. They have counted to 50 in 1s, 2s and 10s and have learnt how to write the numbers in their maths books. 
We loved showing off all the hard work we have been doing by letting our Mummies and Daddies come and look at our books. We hope they are proud of our work too!
