This week Class 4 have shown resilience as they have made great strides towards nearing the end of their Spring Term topics. In decimals, year 6 showed off their mathematical skills (such as place value understanding) by scoring brilliantly on a WhiteRoseMaths end of topic assessment. Year 5 have made great progress with their decimals and percentages unit.
In English, Class 4 finished, drafting, editing and publishing their Beowulf legends with great pride and care. The stories, which acted as a sequel to Micheal Morpurgo's 'Beowulf' demonstrated a brilliant grasp of choosing suitable vocabulary such as 'blood-lusting tyrant' and 'scaley talons'. Wonderful writing was also seen in the pupils' write-up of their science experiment investigating the effect of adding more bulbs to a circuit. To help measure the effect of adding more lightbulbs to a series circuit, the children coded Microbits to work as light sensors allowing them to retrieve data to support their conclusions and findings.
On Tuesday, the whole of Key Stage 2 took part in a netball tournament between our four teams at Richard Crosse (Earth, Fire, Water and Air). The children from Class 4 showed great leadership and responsibility when supporting their younger peers and allowing them to flourish. All the teams demonstrated great teamwork and specific netball skills such as pivoting on the landing foot, utilising bounce passes and communicating tactics and information effectively.
In computing, through using the Chromebooks, we have developed a much more sophisticated understanding of how databases are used and how to sort information on them. By filtering our results effectively, specific records can be found with ease and through adding more fields, more information can be stored and recorded when necessary.
