Welcome back everyone!

We’ve had a lovely week in Class 3. Both year groups are learning about fractions in Maths. Year 3 have been finding equivalent fractions using number lines and bar models whilst Year 4 have been adding and subtracting fractions from wholes and mixed numbers. In Art, we used sketching skills such as cross hatching and shading to draw a leaf. We really took our time and observed the leaf closely to create a realistic sketch. In Geography, we took part in field work. This field work started with an enquiry question ‘What modes of transport travel through our local village?’. To answer this question, we surveyed how many vehicles pass school. We then presented our findings in a bar chart. In Science, we learnt about the reasons why we have a skeleton and what our bodies would be like if we didn’t have bones. We then learnt about how many bones we have in our finger…27! This inspired us to design and create bionic hands using a range of materials such as straw (bones), card (skin), string (tendons) and elastic bands (muscles). On Friday we also enjoyed taking part in a cricket taster session with Ben Nicholas. Well done Class 3 for a fantastic first week back to school.
