What a lovely week it has been! It has been wonderful to see the sunshine during our school day. This week, we have been exploring explanation texts through the book Stuff You Should Know! by John Farndon and Rob Beattie. As a class, we have considered the language and organisational features needed to make the text effective.
In Maths, Both year groups have been investigating shapes. Year 5's were creative with 3D shapes as manipulatives whilst Year 6 have been problem solving using known facts about triangles and angles.
To finish our computing topic, we combined all the skills developed throughout the unit to create our own vector drawings, experimenting with the duplicate and grouping tools.
During French lessons this term, the children have been learning about hobbies, pastimes and sports so today we had a fun lesson learning about the Olympic Games being hosted in Paris this summer. They enjoyed learning a few French facts such as where the opening ceremony will take place in Paris… on the river Seine as well as revising the names of some of the famous landmarks in Paris and French the name of some French sports. The children were able to say which sport they are looking forward to watching in French and why.
I hope you have a restful weekend, looking after yourselves and arrive full of energy for the final week of the Summer Term.
