Class 1 autumn 2 Weeks 3 and 4

 

In Monster Phonics the Reception children have covered f, ff, s, ss, l and ll.

Mrs Nilsen has been working hard with pre-school at sitting still, listening carefully and taking turns. She has also been practising Christmas songs.

Reception have begun using known high frequency words to write simple sentences.

Last week, we looked at Kaplinsky’s triangle and circle art work. The children had a go at creating their own pieces of art using these shapes. They also investigated making other 2D shapes using circles and triangles.

In number sessions,  the children have focused on 4 and 5 and have been practising 1 more or 1 less than these numbers. They looked at the composition of these numbers. Some children have been solving tangram puzzles and have been subitising more complex dot arrangements.

The children have learnt about nocturnal animals and created nocturnal animal sillouettes and in science the children learnt about changing states of matter with Mr Parker.

This week the children have been practising their Nativity play. 
We look forward to another busy week next week practising our play and getting ready for the Christingle service.
