Spring Term 2- Week 1- Class 2

We hope you all had a lovely week off. We've been back at school this week and have had so much fun learning lots of new things!

Maths Magic!

In Maths, we've been super busy! We've been learning all about sharing and grouping. We've also been practising our 2 times-table and learning how to divide by two. Did you know that some numbers are odd and some are even? We do now! It's been really exciting to understand how dividing works, and we've been getting much better at our numbers.

Poetry Power!

In English, we've been writing poems! We've been learning about onomatopoeia ("bang!" and "crash!") and alliteration (where words start with the same letter, like "slippery snakes"). We're using these features to write our own acrostic poems all about space!

Science Senses!

Our science lessons have been amazing! Our topic is, animals, including humans. We've explored the different parts of our bodies (hands, feet, arms, legs, head) and learned about our senses. We used our sense of taste to try different foods to see if they were sweet, salty, sour, or bitter. We then put them into the correct groups! We also had a lesson exploring scent where we smelled different things and put them in order from the strongest scent to the weakest. 

Understanding Algorithms!

In ICT, we've been learning about instruction order and how the same instructions can create different things when placed in different orders. We were focusing on understanding that the same instructions can be used to create different algorithms. It was like solving a puzzle with instructions! We found out that even small changes in the order can make a big difference to what happens.

PE Adventures!

In PE, we've been doing orienteering! We used a map to identify pieces of equipment and put them together to make a big smiley face. It was great fun and helped us understand the importance of working together.

We've had a brilliant week back and can't wait to see what exciting things we learn next week!
