The first week back from a short break is always exciting. With everyone feeling refreshed, we began our new topics and continued our hard work in English and Maths. In English, we started to write our first couple of chapters for our Greek myths relating to the 12 labours of Heracles. We made sure that we included complex sentences, varied punctuation and (previously unfamiliar) vocabulary.

In Mathematics, we began our area, perimeter and volume topic by investigating the difference between area and perimeter. Then, we looked at finding the area of compund shapes by splitting the shapes into rectangles.

On Wednesday we were treated to an informative health and safety talk from a manager at Network Rail. He highlighted the importance of being alert and sensible when near any train tracks or stations.

With great enthusiasm, we began our new PE topic of tag rugby. We practised holding, throwing and catching the rugby ball in the correct manner and learnt some of the basic rules.  Another guest visited our classroom in David who is a music specialist and is helping our class rehearse for a special performance that is coming up later in March.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday.
