Class 2's Colourful and Clay-Filled Week!
What a busy and brilliant week it's been in Class 2! We've been diving into stories, getting creative with clay, and exploring the great outdoors. Here's a little peek into our exciting adventures:
The Day the Crayons Quit!
Our English lessons were bursting with colour this week as we delved into the wonderful world of "The Day the Crayons Quit" by Oliver Jeffers. We absolutely loved Duncan's crayon-filled dilemma! We had so much fun acting out how each crayon might have felt, from Red's fiery frustration to Beige's overlooked sadness. We then put on our writing hats and tried our best to retell the story in our own words. We focused on using exciting vocabulary and remembering to write everything in the past tense. We had some fantastic descriptive sentences!
Getting Muddy with Clay!
We've also embarked on a brand new art topic, all about clay! At first, we spent some time just exploring the clay, squishing it, rolling it, and describing how it felt. It was wonderfully messy! Then, we got to work making pinch pots and coil pots. Some of us were incredibly creative and even turned our coils into adorable clay snails. It was amazing to see everyone's unique creations!
Outdoor Learning Adventures at Richard Crosse!
Wednesday was our first Outdoor Learning Day at Richard Crosse, and it was a roaring success! We started by getting stuck in, clearing branches and tidying up the area, which was a great team effort. Then, we put our building skills to the test and constructed fantastic dens using the branches we'd collected. We felt like real explorers!
Our learning didn't stop there! We also took part in a thrilling treasure hunt, putting our science knowledge to good use. And to top it all off, we had a nature drawing competition, capturing the beauty of our surroundings. We were all very tired by the end of the day, but we had so much fun learning and exploring together.
It's been a truly fantastic week filled with creativity, exploration, and lots of laughter. We can't wait to see what adventures next week brings!
