The highlight of our week has undoubtedly been our incredible performance of 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Camelot'! The children were truly magnificent, delivering a performance that was both hilarious and surprisingly professional. I am so proud of each and every one of them for their hard work, their confident stage presence and their ability to bring such joy to the audience. A huge thank you to all the parents and families who came to support us – your enthusiastic feedback was wonderful to hear and the children were absolutely buzzing afterwards!
Beyond the bright lights of the stage, we've also been busy bees in our other subjects. In Maths, we've embarked on a new topic all about mass and capacity. The children have been getting to grips with measuring mass using grams (g) and kilograms (kg) and we've also been exploring equivalent lengths, understanding how different units relate to each other. There's been lots of hands-on work with scales and containers, helping to solidify their understanding of these important concepts.
Science this week has been particularly exciting as we've been conducting some fascinating experiments! Our first investigation involved testing the effect of various liquids on egg shells, which we used as a representation of our tooth enamel. The children made careful observations as we exposed the shells to sugary drinks, acidic liquids, and plain water. The results clearly demonstrated the damaging effects that sugary and acidic drinks can have on our teeth – a very important lesson!
Following this, we turned our attention to toothpaste. We became mini-scientists, testing different brands based on their taste, their ability to remove plaque and how foamy they became. After careful evaluation, our class concluded that Colgate came out on top in our experiment!
Finally, we broadened our understanding of teeth by exploring how the teeth of carnivores, herbivores and omnivores differ. We looked at different skull examples and discussed how the shape and size of teeth are adapted to the animal's diet.
Overall, it has been a truly brilliant and busy last week of the Spring Term! We are so incredibly proud of all the hard work and enthusiasm shown by every member of Class 3.
Well done, Class 3! You have all been superstars. Now it's time to relax, recharge and enjoy a well-deserved Easter break! We look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for more learning adventures in the Summer Term.
Wishing you all a happy and peaceful Easter!
