What a wonderfully busy and exciting first week back we have had! It was fantastic to see all of the children again after the half-term break. Everyone was beaming and full of energy, eager to share their holiday adventures with their friends. It was clear that we were all thrilled to be back together as a class! The definite highlight of our week has been getting started on our Christmas Nativity rehearsals! Christmas seems a long way off, but we know it takes a lot of practice to put on a spectacular show. We sat together and read through the script for the very first time. This helped us all to start learning our lines and understand the order of the scenes. We've been focusing hard on listening out for our cue—knowing who speaks right before us is key! We also had a fantastic time practising some of the catchy Nativity songs. You might hear us humming them at home!

In English this week, we finally got to publish the amazing non-chronological reports we wrote about pirates before the holidays. The children did such a brilliant job researching and writing their facts! To celebrate their hard work, each child chose their favourite paragraph from their report. They then carefully wrote this paragraph out onto a special piece of paper to make it look like an authentic scroll! Our Maths lessons focused on continuing our important work on place value up to 100. Understanding the value of each digit is a crucial skill! We spent time comparing numbers to see which was greater or smaller. We also practised ordering a set of numbers from the smallest to the biggest, and vice versa. The children have been working hard and demonstrating great confidence with numbers in the tens and ones. They have worked incredibly hard this week!
