Class 3 has had an exhilarating, musical start to the second week!. The classroom buzzed with energy as we set off to the Young Voices concert in Birmingham on Monday. The children wilfully sang their hearts out and impressed the crowds with their spirit, melodious tunes and outstanding behaviour. Even though the beginning of the week required a lot of energy, the children worked hard throughout the rest of the week and demonstrated keen readiness!

In Mathematics, we have been continuing our topic: multiplication and division. After recapping multiplying using arrays, we were introduced to the long division method to multiply 2 digit numbers by 1-digit numbers! Once the children were confident with this method, we explored efficient multiplication and learnt a short multiplication method to multiply 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. In English, we have read chapter 2 and 3 of ‘A Monster Tale’ and took part in a range of drama activities to empathise with the characters such as the brave, courageous warriors. Also, we started to write our own story based on our class text, focusing on the use of expanded noun phrases, conjunctions and powerful verbs.

In history, we learnt about the various roles of men, women and children in Anglo Saxon times. Many of the children in class were surprised at how fast the children had to grow up. In PE the Year 3s focused on gymnastics where we learnt how to counterbalance in partners, whereas the Year 4s had a swimming lesson.During the week, we learnt about ‘The Gospel’ and what qualities Christians believed the disciples needed to ‘fish for people’. At the end of the week, the children learnt about the importance of combatting discrimination and discussed how discrimination could make people feel. At the end of the week, class 3 took part in their first MusicShare training session in preparation for a concert that we will be taking part in, in March.

Well done Class 3! Have a wonderful, restful weekend!
