This week in Class 4 has been a busy and exciting one, with lots of fantastic learning taking place. The Year 6 pupils also continued with their mock SATs assessments during the week, showing great resilience and focus. We are very proud of the effort they have all put in.
On Monday, the Year 5 pupils began learning how to add decimals in maths, carefully lining up the decimal points and explaining their thinking. In English, we continued working on our chronological reports linked to our class text, Animalium. In the afternoon, we all had computing where we continued exploring databases, learning how to sort records and find specific information within a set of data.
On Tuesday, the Year 5 pupils continued developing their understanding of decimals in maths. We enjoyed creative art lesson where we used watercolours to paint beautiful flower pictures for a special upcoming occasion. In the afternoon, we continued our tag rugby unit in PE, practising passing and movement while developing our teamwork and confidence with the game.
On Wednesday, the Year 5 pupils had another maths lesson on decimals before moving on to an English lesson where we explored compound and complex sentences. We also learnt our new spellings for the week and enjoyed whole-class reading of Animalium. In the afternoon, we had science where we explored what makes a circuit work. The children experimented with different electrical components and discussed how electricity flows through a circuit.
Thursday was a very special day as we celebrated World Book Day. The classroom was full of fantastic costumes, ranging from Hagrid to Dogman! In worship, we explored the importance of reading as a hobby and how books can inspire imagination and learning. Throughout the day, the children created their own book tokens to take home, which will be returned once signed and sent off. We also had PE where we continued developing our football skills, focusing on dribbling and ball control. In PSHE, we explored the idea of human rights and why they are important. The children discussed why some people disagree with certain rights and even created their own ideas for rights they believe should exist.
On Friday, we held our Greenpower bake sale to raise money for race day. There were lots of delicious treats and it was great to see everyone supporting the event. We also completed the final Year 6 mock SATs papers. It has been a challenging week for them, but they have worked incredibly hard and should be very proud of themselves. Well done, Class 4! ????
