What a whirlwind of a week we’ve had! From mastering tricky calculations to becoming local historians, the children have shown incredible focus and creativity. The sunshine even allowed us to take our learning beyond the classroom walls.
We made the most of the gorgeous weather by taking our Year 3 and 4 statutory spelling practice outside. Armed with colorful chalk, the playground became our canvas as we practiced our tricky words in the fresh air. In English, we have turned our attention to the art of persuasion. We’ve been dissecting travel brochures to find their secrets—from snappy subheadings to tempting descriptions. To put these skills to the test, we’ve been researching our very own King’s Bromley. We’ve gathered some fantastic facts about our village to help us create brochures that will make anyone want to visit!
We’ve taken our understanding of fractions to new heights this week. The children have been working hard on adding and subtracting fractions, showing great resilience when dealing with numerators and denominators. Our Year 4 artists have been experimenting with the power of the pencil. By using different grades of graphite, they explored how to create depth through various tones and textures. Their shading skills are really starting to bring their sketches to life!
Over on the playground, our Year 3s have been high-energy! They’ve been practicing parkour, focusing on three key elements: Speed, balance and precision jumping. The excitement levels are through the roof as we prepare for our big play next week. We’ve had a busy week of rehearsals, and the classroom was transformed into a dressing room as we tried on our costumes for the first time. Everyone looks the part, and we can't wait to perform for you all! It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Parent Open Afternoon. The children were so proud to "teach" you the different spelling and maths activities we use in class.
Finally, we started our week with a massive cheer! We all headed out to the school gates to support Greg, who cycled past us on his incredible charity journey. It was a great moment of community spirit to kick off such a productive week.
Oracy discussion of the week: If you were a tour guide for King's Bromley, what is the one 'secret' fact you would tell visitors first to make them want to stay? Why is that fact so special?
