What a fantastic and eventful week it has been in Class 4!
We began Monday with an exciting opportunity for our Year 5 pupils, who visited the fire station for a safety-focused trip. At the same time, our Year 6 children remained in school where they took part in focused SATs preparation sessions, demonstrating great maturity and commitment. A particularly memorable moment came when Greg James passed by—our children gave him a wonderfully enthusiastic cheer and were even featured on the news! In the afternoon, the class explored science through hands-on learning, using micro to record light levels and investigate how the brightness of a bulb changes within a series circuit.
Tuesday was a focused and productive day in the classroom. In Maths, the children worked hard on adding and subtracting decimals, while in English they carefully edited their non-chronological report drafts. Our RE lesson encouraged thoughtful discussion, as pupils explored philosophical questions in a safe and respectful environment—sharing their opinions confidently and understanding that there are no “wrong” answers in such discussions.
On Wednesday, the children continued to build their confidence in Maths by multiplying and dividing decimals. In English, they proudly published their non-chronological reports, showcasing their hard work and creativity. In the afternoon, Computing lessons saw the class developing their understanding of databases on Chromebooks, using their growing technical skills to answer a range of questions.
Thursday brought further refinement in English, as pupils edited and finalised their reports. In the afternoon, we made the most of the beautiful weather with a lively football PE session. The children began playing matches and demonstrated great teamwork, enthusiasm and sportsmanship—it was wonderful to see such energy and enjoyment outdoors.
We rounded off the week on a high note on Friday. Year 5 celebrated completing their decimals unit with excellent results in their post-unit assessments—well done to everyone for their hard work and perseverance! In French, the class explored verbs, pronouns and verb endings through music, memory games and by creating their own spinning verb wheels. To finish the week, we turned our attention to Geography, where pupils investigated natural disasters, examining images and discussing their causes and effects with great curiosity.
It has truly been a week full of learning, enthusiasm and achievement. We are incredibly proud of all the children and the positive attitude they bring to their learning each day.
