What a fantastic first week back we have had in Year 2! Our English journey has taken flight with our new core text, The Great Dragon Rescue, which has inspired some wonderful descriptive writing; we have been challenging ourselves to use varied sentence starters while carefully proofreading our work to ensure it makes sense and includes accurate capital letters and full stops. In Maths, the children have been busy becoming money experts—moving from identifying coins to counting pence and pounds, combining the two, and finding creative ways to make the same total. Our RE lessons have introduced us to the Sikh faith, where we explored core beliefs and the significance of the 5Ks. History has been a particular highlight as we began our 'Famous Queens' unit, comparing the lives of Queen Victoria, Elizabeth I, and Elizabeth II. We had a brilliant time diving deeper into the Tudor era through roleplay, and seeing the children transform into jesters, queens, and even King Henry VIII certainly brought plenty of laughter to our classroom!
