The Summer term has begun and we have had a week fully of learning to enjoy.

In maths, we have been exploring the equivalences found between fractions, percentages and decimals. Through resillience and focus many have been able to get onto extensions both worksheets and online. In English, we have begun reading Beowulf and learning about the catastrophe at Heorot. Many of the class really enjoyed getting into character and delivering a a live news report of the tragedy at the mead-hall with Grendel.

In RE, we have begun our topic learning about different faiths and we explored the 5 pillars of Islam. Namely, Shahadah which means there is only one God. We looked at Bilal's story of the first call to prayer and discussed the courage this must of shown.

Our new science topic involved predicting gestation periods for a variety of life and putting them in order. This led to great discussions for why a mouse gestates for different times when compared to a rhino.

Cricket has been the focus of our sport this week, with many enjoying the opportunity to practice fielding and striking the ball with a bat. We developed our use of the long barrier to stop the ball passing us by and leaned how to hold a bat properly with the correct stance.

Topic for Talk - to support our focus on oracy, below is a question linked to our learning this week to discuss with your child.

If we could interview Grendel, what do you think his excuse would be for his actions at the mead-hall?
