This week we have continued with the theme of life cycles and looked at the life cycle of a butterfly.
The children have produced writing and have made some lovely caterpillars and symmetrical butterflies.
In maths all the children are working on the composition of numbers to 5 and some children to 10. We are particularly working on one more and one less.
Mrs Parkes has been making some deliberate mistakes when ordering numbers above 10 for the children to spot! They have also been identifying odd, even numbers and doubles.
In science the children have continued to sort materials. This week we looked at how different materials can be grouped according to whether they are shiny, hard, soft, natural etc. The children really enjoyed putting the materials into groups and seeing how some objects fit into more than one group.
Today we had some tadpoles in the classroom. The children loved these visitors. They have now been put safely back into their pond.
In Monster Phonics, the children have learned how to spell words containing air such as hair, chair, lair and pair.
The preschool children are making great progress with segmenting CVC words and most of the children are able to say pairs of rhyming words.
We have enjoyed dancing and singing nursery rhymes.
We look forward to continuing with looking at mini- beasts next week!
