Despite it being a shorter week than usual following the Bank Holiday Monday, Class 3 have been incredibly busy and productive. We began our Tuesday by turning into health investigators during our Science lesson, where we scrutinized nutrition labels on food packaging to identify healthy choices versus those that are high in saturated fats. This focus on our bodies continued in PE during our cross-country trials. It was truly inspiring to witness the stewardship and thoughtfulness of the pupils; the way they cheered on and encouraged those who found the long-distance run more challenging was a real highlight of the week and showed the wonderful character of our class.
In our English lessons, we have remained captivated by the world of The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We have been continuing our own stories inspired by the book, with a specific focus on speech punctuation to ensure our dialogue is polished. Meanwhile, in Maths, we have been mastering the art of time. The children have been working hard on conversions, learning how to accurately flip between minutes and seconds, as well as calculating how many minutes are tucked away inside an hour.
The class also enjoyed some specialised learning experiences this week. Our Year 4 pupils headed into the great outdoors to be introduced to the Kelly Kettle, where they practiced their foraging skills to find the perfect sticks to get the water boiling. At the same time, the Year 3s stayed in the classroom for a peaceful Art lesson, where they were introduced to the delicate techniques of watercolours. It was wonderful to see their creativity flow across the page in such a different medium.
To round off the week, we focused on our well-being in PSHE by discussing the importance of personal hygiene. We also added to our language skills in French, where everyone can now confidently describe the colour of different animals. Finally, a huge well done to the Year 4s, who have been practicing their multiplication facts on TTRockstars. They are working exceptionally hard to turn their heatmaps green to ensure they feel confident and prepared for their assessments after the half-term break. What a fantastic, action-packed four days!
