In Maths, we have officially kicked off our focus on addition. The children have been diving straight into understanding the fundamental relationship between parts and wholes, which is giving them a brilliant foundation for their calculations. We have also been working hard on mastering our number bonds to 10 and 20, using practical equipment and pictorial representations to help us spot key patterns and build our mental recall.
Our English sessions have brought plenty of laughter and excitement as we explored a fantastic twist on a familiar classic: The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig! The children have absolutely loved seeing the roles reversed and discovering how this funny, inventive story plays out. Their enthusiasm has been wonderful to see, and they are already brimming with ideas as they look forward to retelling the tale in their own words next week.
Over in RE, we took some time to quieten our minds and reflect deeply on the theme of forgiveness. We discussed what it truly means to show kindness and let go of hurt, leading into a quiet writing session where the children composed their own heartfelt forgiveness prayers. Their empathy, maturity, and thoughtfulness during this lesson were lovely to witness.
In History, our attention turned to how we mark special occasions. We spent time exploring how different events are celebrated and how people from various cultures, backgrounds, and families might mark the same occasion in uniquely different ways. It sparked some brilliant classroom discussions, with the children eagerly sharing their own traditions and learning from their peers.
It really has been another busy, vibrant week of learning!
