We have had a great week this week starting to learn the words for our Christmas performance and sing the songs. Miss Derry is very impressed with how hard we have been working. In English, we have come to the end of our unit looking at the story of Pinocchio and have rewritten the story. Some of us have even adapted the ending and written our own. In Maths, Year 1 have been learning the names of 2D and 3D shapes and different ways to sort them. Year 2 have started a new topic on money. They have looked at the different coins and notes, thinking about their value and appearance. They have also had a go at counting in pounds and pence. In Phonics, Year 1 have been looking at the two ways of pronouncing oo and oa, whilst Year 2 have been looking at words which have 'a' pronounced as 'o' (e.g. watch) and words where 'o' is pronounced as 'er'(e.g. worm). We are getting really confident sounding out new words using the graphemes that we have been taught. We are really looking forward to the disco tonight!
