Class 4 - Autumn 1 - Week 1

It has been a fantastic start to the year and we are all settling into our new class. At the beginning of the week, we have been imaginative and created many things to go up on our displays. 
During our maths lessons this week, we have been investigating place value up to 1,000,000, learning about the value of each digit within a number. We have also been learning the power of 10 which is how a number changes when we multiply or divide it by 10, 100 and 1000. 
In our English lessons, we have started reading our class text - The Secret Garden. Over the course of the next few weeks, we will read more of he story and write our own narratives in a similar style.

We have been finding definitions for certain geographical terminology in our zones around the world lesson. Here are some of the words/phrases we have been learning - Equator, Tropics of Cancer, Tropics of Capricorn, latitude and longitude. Maybe at home, you could quiz us on what these terms mean.

We have discussed healthy eating as part of our PSHE and PE topics and we have been discussing how exercise and a healthy diet can help keep our bodies healthy.
