Image of Autumn term 1, week 3

This week has flown by! In English, we have finished reading Pumpkin Soup and have made predictions about what we think a new story could be. We came up with some super ideas! In Maths, We have been learning the terms less than, greater than and equal to and have started to use the mathematical symbols to represent this too. Year 1 are trying hard to focus on ensuring their numbers are written the correct way around too. In phonics, Year 1 have been learning oi, ay and oy. We have talked about where the graphemes come in words and have explored lots of different words containing these graphemes. Ask us to give you some examples! Year 2 have been looking at the tricky graphemes, gn and wr. I’m sure they will be able to give you lots of different words that have these spellings. In our Topic lessons we have been focussing upon Geography. We have looked at the continents of Europe and Asia, paying particular interest to the countries France and China. The children loved making their Chinese dragons.
We can’t wait to see what we are going to be learning about next week!
