Image of Class 2- Spring 1- Week 2

This week, Class 2 have been buzzing with excitement as we dived into some incredible topics across the curriculum! In Geography, we created detailed weather maps of the UK and compared the climates of countries on the equator with those near the North and South Poles—it’s been fascinating to explore how location affects the weather. In English, we’ve been inspired by Bob’s adventures in The Man on the Moon, using his story to craft complex sentences with noun phrases and conjunctions. The Children have worked in pairs to describe Bob’s thoughts and feelings as he gazes at Earth from the Moon, and they acted out their imaginative sentences in front of the class—it was wonderful to see their creativity and confidence shine! In RE, we explored the Islamic faith, learning about the Qur'an and even practising writing our names in Arabic.

In Maths, we’ve been working hard to develop our counting skills, focusing on counting backwards and forwards in ones and tens. The children practised recognising patterns in numbers and applied their addition and subtraction knowledge to make connections between sequences. Through interactive activities and group challenges, they explored how counting can help in everyday problem-solving, such as identifying missing numbers in a sequence or solving word problems. They also used number lines and ten frames to strengthen their understanding of how numbers increase and decrease. It’s been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they worked together to tackle increasingly tricky tasks! To top it all off, we’ve been creating music in ICT using rhythm, experimenting with beats and sounds to compose unique pieces. It’s been a fantastic week filled with discovery, creativity, and lots of fun. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next week!
