What a whirlwind of a week it's been! We've been blasting off into space, delving into different cultures, and even getting tips from an Olympian! This week in English, we've been expanding our knowledge of non-chronological reports, and what better topic to explore than the vast expanse of space? We've been learning how to organise information clearly and concisely, ready to report on all things cosmic! Our maths lessons have been challenging but rewarding! We've been working hard to understand the concept of parts and wholes, and how they relate to each other. We've tackled some tricky problems and are becoming real experts in breaking down numbers and putting them back together again! Our history lessons have been truly out of this world! We've been diving deep into the fascinating story of space exploration, focusing on the key figures who made it all possible. We explored various sources to uncover details about the iconic Apollo 11 mission and even watched a captivating video of the mighty Saturn V rocket launching into the great unknown. To consolidate our learning, we completed a source activity sheet and created fact files on two incredible individuals: the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong, and the brilliant mathematician Katherine Johnson, whose contributions were pivotal to the success of the American space program. In Religious Education, we've been learning about the first pillar of Islam, the Shahada (profession of faith). We discussed how this declaration of belief in Allah helps Muslims to strengthen their faith and connection with their religion. The highlight of the week was undoubtedly our special visit from GB athlete and Olympian, Joel Fearon! He shared his experiences and inspired us to understand the importance of staying active and looking after our bodies. It was a truly motivating and memorable experience! All in all, it's been a jam-packed week full of learning and inspiration. We're looking forward to what next week brings!
