Another full half term has come to an end. We have enjoyed finishing our units for this term and look forward to what awaits in Spring 2.
Throughout the week, we have been exploring decimals to 3.d.p. and have looked at comparing and ordering these. Then, we mastered rounding decimals to the nearest whole number.
In English, we have continued our unit based on Heracles and the twelve labours. We have begun thinking about our big write at the start of Spring 2. This will be based on our own '13th labour' for heracles to accomplish. For this, we decided upon our individual monsters/creatures for him to slaughter and created character descriptions in the form of top trump cards. Then we created an instructional text that explains how best to complete the mission of defeating the beast.
We have also created fantastic charcoal drawings of fruit in our large sketchbooks. In RE, we discussed and answered questions based on the story of Clayton Fountain linking this to forgiveness. During a Geography lesson, we investigated what is meant by the term 'food miles' and created our own bar charts to show how this is prevalent in our lives. Friday afternoon consisted of learning songs that we will have the opportunity to perform in concert in March.
Overall, the week has been full of fabulous learning and I hope that everyone takes time to rest and enjoy their week away from school.
