What a super busy week we've had at school! It’s hard to believe we fit so much fun and learning in. In Year 2, we had a really important visitor. We met a special person from the NSPCC (that's a charity that helps keep children safe) and Buddy the speech bubble teddy bear! Learning about safety is a big job, and I know you all listened brilliantly. Year 1, you were showing off your brilliant ICT skills! We used the keyboard to type letters and words into a program called PaintZ. It's tricky learning where all the keys are, but it’s a super skill to have! We’ve all been thinking about pirates! We've been sorting all the things we know about them into different groups (we call them subheadings) to get ready to write a non-chronological report. We have some amazing pirate facts to share! In Maths, we've been counting all the way up to 100! We've been looking at how many tens and how many ones are hiding in a number. And something very yummy! We’ve started our new Design and Technology (D&T) unit all about Pizzas! We talked about all the different types of pizza we can get. Pepperoni? Veggie? Hawaiian? We all shared what our favourite toppings are! In P.E., we were moving non-stop! We’ve been working on our dribbling and passing skills with a ball, moving it carefully around the playground and passing it right to our partner through the goals. We also learned about how exercise helps us stay healthy. We worked hard to improve our squats, jumps, running, and catching. We tried to see how many we could do in one minute! Year 2 had a truly fantastic afternoon yesterday for their very first Outdoor Learning session! They were all brilliant 'explorers and creators'.We started by learning all about safety and made our own brilliant rules together, like "Respecting all living things" and the very wise rule: "No pick, no lick!" We then got to explore the area, looking for signs of wildlife and building amazing dens and structures out of sticks and leaves. Thank you for being ready to get a little bit muddy and being such brilliant outdoor adventurers! Please keep your wellies and waterproofs ready for next time—we can't wait! We finished the week with one last important visitor: Jonathan the dentist! He came to talk to us about how to keep our teeth lovely and healthy. Brushing is so important, and even Miss Derry learnt something new! I wonder what wonderful things we will learn next week?
