What a whirlwind of learning we’ve had this week in Class 2! In Maths, we successfully wrapped up our multiplication and division topic and are now standing tall as we prepare to explore length and height. Our journey through history has been equally exciting; we’ve been immersed in the story of ‘Vlad and The Great Fire of London’, using it as a spark for our English work on commas, subordinating conjunctions, and expressive exclamation marks. By comparing the London of 1666 to the modern day, we’ve gained a real insight into how much our capital has changed.
Our scientific curiosity took us outside to investigate sun rays, where we discovered that exposed areas of the playground received the most heat, while shade provided a natural shield. To take this further, the children suggested re-testing our findings at different times of the year or even at twilight! In DT, we turned into young designers to evaluate and improve our playground equipment, while PE saw us sharpening our agility through throwing and catching drills. Finally, we shared a truly special moment on Wednesday at the church for our Mothering Sunday service, where the children spoke movingly about why they love their mums. It has been a truly busy and brilliant week of growth!
