It has been an incredibly busy and fulfilling week filled with artistic expression, meaningful performances, focused learning, and special moments.

We kicked things off by channeling our inner artists for Mother's Day! The children created vibrant, eye-catching cards inspired by the distinctive and energetic style of renowned pop artist Burton Morris. Utilizing bold colors and dynamic shapes, each child designed a truly unique masterpiece to show their appreciation, reflecting the unique style and creativity of this modern icon. Our focus then shifted to celebrating the special women in our lives. Many children participated in our  Mothering Sunday service, which was brilliantly led by our very own class worship council. As part of this special service, the children performed a heartfelt poem about their mothers. We incorporated wonderfully rich vocabulary, truly capturing their love and gratitude in spoken words.

Continuing the musical theme, many of our children also showcased their vocal talents at a stunning Music Concert held in the majestic setting of Lichfield Cathedral. Singing a diverse range of songs in front of a supportive audience of parents and friends, it was a fantastic opportunity for them to perform confidently in such a historic and acoustically impressive venue.

Looking ahead to future performances, rehearsals are now in full swing for our upcoming class play, 'A Big Green Adventure'! The children have been practicing diligently, learning their lines, developing their characters, and working together to bring this exciting story to life. Their enthusiasm is palpable, and we can’t wait for you all to see the final production.

Back in the classroom, the children have been flexing their mathematical muscles. We have continued our deep dive into the world of fractions, specifically focusing on the process of converting mixed numbers to improper fractions. Finally, our English lessons have transported us to far-off lands! Inspired by the evocative setting in our current class book, 'Cinnamon', the children have been crafting their own immersive setting descriptions. Focusing on rich imagery, sensory details, and evocative language, they have brought opulent and majestic Indian palaces to life through their writing, painting vivid pictures with words.

From artistic creation and powerful performances to focused academic progress and imaginative writing, the children have shown incredible dedication and enthusiasm in everything they do. We are immensely proud of their hard work and look forward to sharing more of their achievements with you soon.

Oracy discussion of the week: This week, we used bold colors like Burton Morris to design cards, and 'rich vocabulary' to describe an Indian Palace. If you had to describe your favorite memory from this week to someone who couldn't see, would it be easier to use words or music? Why?
