In maths this week, the children continued to work on numbers, recognition, ordering and composition. The children have worked on recognising numbers above 10, building number staircases, identifying missing numbers and forming the numbers correctly. I have been using 10s frames to show the children how numbers above 20 are recorded.

In phonics, the preschool children learnt about ‘a’. They talked about things that begin with this letter and made it out of play dough. They painted this letter and drew it in sand.
Reception have learnt how to spell CCVC words. They put these words in sentences.

In literacy, the children listened to ‘At the beach’ and ‘Someone’s Swallowed Stanley’. The children really enjoyed listening to the postcards and enjoyed writing their own. The children understand the importance of putting their rubbish in the bin so that it doesn’t end up in the sea.

The preschool children enjoyed designing their own ‘Stanley’ and turning the bag into a kite. We talked about the importance of recycling our rubbish.

In RE, the children listening to the parable ‘The Lost Sheep’ and learnt that everyone is special, unique and important. They made sheep and re-enacted the story.

In science the children learned about the oceans and how most of the planet is water.

We have had a busy week of learning!

Hopefully the weather will improve next week!
